How to add or update your post’s social links
Social links in beehiiv posts explained
In a typical beehiiv post, social links can appear in 3 locations:
- Top Right: Social sharing links for readers to share your post.
- Top Left: Additional sharing options via the social posts icon.
- Bottom (Footer): Links to your own social media accounts.
Social sharing links and social media links are different, each serves a distinct purpose.
1. Social sharing links are at the top right
Social sharing links appear at the top right corner of your published posts. These links enable readers to easily share your newsletter on the following platforms:
- X (Twitter)
- Threads
Social sharing links are automatically included in every web post and cannot be disabled. Currently, their colors cannot be customized.
2. Additional sharing options at the top left
Readers can access more sharing options by clicking the social posts icon on the top left side of your post. This allows them to share your content via:
- X (Twitter)
- WhatsApp
3. Your social media links are at the bottom in the footer
At the bottom of your post, the footer contains icons that link to your social media accounts, if added. These links help readers connect with you and explore more about your publication.
You can add social links for:
- X (Twitter)
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Threads
- Discord
- Bluesky
To add or update these links, go to Website Builder > Settings tab > Social Links. Once added, you can further customize the appearance of these social links for each post using the steps outlined below.
How to add or remove social sharing links from the top of a post
Social sharing links are in the email header of your newsletter, enabling readers to share the entire post. Sharing specific sections or portions of a post is not currently supported.
By default, this feature is enabled in the Email page settings of your post. If you prefer to disable social sharing icons for your email post, follow these steps:
- Open a new post draft or select to edit one of your saved posts.
- The Post Builder will open on the Compose page. Navigate to the Email page.
- Go to the Email header buttons section and toggle Socials off.
Tech Note: While you can remove social sharing icons from the top of your email, they will still appear at the top of your web post. Additionally, their colors cannot be adjusted at this time.
